Three's the charm

The rule of three: Bad things always happen in groups of three- we have had our three! We own a Red Ford Ranger Pickup and our daughter was driving it before we bought her this little red car in the pictures above. The clutch went out in the truck right after she started to drive her car. Two, the repairs to my car as I mentioned in the before this one. Now it is this- I woke up to a crunching sound this morning to find my daughter had tangled with her dad's work truck bumper. She was in a panic. I have learned in this journey as a parent that when your children are in a state, it is extremely important that you don't panic. I held her and told her to calm down- that I was relieved that she was alright and this could have been so much worse! I untangled the two vehicles and went to work pulling the fender out. The car is drivable so, it is not an emergency. I am just thankful that we have had our three! The funniest part was she was taking a friend home from a sleepover- that friend texted later to tell Steph that she was thankful that she had something to tell Steph's great grandchildren.

What's With the Title?

I know we all have a special place in our hearts for that big purple and yellow spotted dinosaur- he was my kids favorite when they were little. Now, they would kill me if they knew I used it to help with our last name- Arney- I have to laugh at this. Like "Barney" with out the "B" was how I once explained to a young child on how to say my last name. She understood it right away! It is a wonderful name, and amazingly, it is a prominant name here in Western Oklahoma, yet we are not related to any of them!I like the analogy of the big purple dinosaur- he was a little disjointed if I can say so freely! Sweet, loving, fun, and kinda off in an endearing way! That is how my life is ran most of the time. I never really know which way is up, yet I seem to make it all work.Take today for instance- I just bought a "new" used car for $2500. It is a great little car that I can put the mileage on. It ran great for a week and a half and then as I pulled into town- a mile away from home after 20 miles into the new tank of gas and it just quit! I was in a state of shock though I probably should have expected this to happen.I count my blessings- the car quit yes, but I was near home if I needed to go on foot. My hubby was at home, so he was my knight in shining armor and came to my rescue. He brought our mini van and imagine this- the bumpers matched! So he "bumper pushed" the car home! No tow truck necessary! We assumed that the repair was going to be really expensive- $700 worth to change out a fuel pump. We were prepared to let the car sit until.... but it so happened that Dawn, my very dear friend, is married to a very talented and smart man who was my second knight. He found out what was wrong with the car and he is fixing it this weekend with my husband- $50 instead...see kinda off in a good way- like the purple big guy. Gotta love it! I do! It is going to be a great ride! I am going to love it all the way! So jump in and hang on-as it is often bumpy!!!
